- 01If you can, move to the hard shoulder, an emergency area or a safe place off the road.
- 02Switch on your hazard warning lights. Use sidelights too if it’s dark or visibility is poor.
- 03Get yourself and any passengers out using the doors facing away from traffic.
- 04Wait well away from your vehicle and traffic — behind a safety barrier if there is one.
- 05Then call us. If you can’t get out safely or anyone is in danger, call 999 first.
